Energy literacy with Saul Griffith

We’re not all experts on sustainability — but we have to understand it if we’re going to make it happen. A high point of the most recent O’Reilly Emerging Technology Conference was Saul Griffith’s keynote on energy literacy. Griffith,a scientist and MacArthur Foundation “genius,” does a superb job of linking the abstract (climate crisis) to the individual (personal carbon footprint) in a way that neither underestimates the challenge nor makes change seem impossible.

If you don’t have 20 minutes, here’s a short interview he did with TechWebTV shortly after his talk:

If you don’t have 10 minutes for that, Berkman Center fellow and ace blogger Ethan Zuckerman has good notes on the talk.

In whatever form you digest Griffith’s ideas, they’re required reading/viewing for managers new to sustainability.
